Performance Contracting ProjectsAbout the Project
The 2001 Vigo County School Corporation Performance Contracting Projects consisted of work at three schools in Vigo County; Rio Grande Elementary School, Chauncey Rose Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson Middle School. The work was under contract with Energy System Groups, a performance contracting firm from Evansville, Indiana.
The work at Rio Grande Elementary School consisted of a complete changeover of the school from an open concept school to a more traditional classroom environment. The Sycamore portion of the project consisted of total overhaul of the HVAC system and completely renovating the electrical system. The project was unique in that the work began in May and needed to be completed prior to the fist day of classes in August.
Therefore the project duration was less than 3 months - a major undertaking for any construction company.
Chauncey Rose Middle School received a new HVAC system with all related electrical work. Again, the project had an August 2001 completion date. Though not as extensive as Rio Grande, the project required coordination of all trades to meet the time requirement.
Woodrow Wilson Middle School was the smallest of the three school projects. It consisted of coil changes in existing HVAC units. It also had to be completed prior to school starting.
